Changing an NCT booking: notice and cancellation fees

Check the notice period first

NCTS charges for cancellation, rearrangement or a no-show with less than five working days’ notice. It counts Monday to Friday and excludes the test day. Check directly with NCTS if your dates or a holiday make the deadline unclear.

Full tests and retests have different charges

The late-change charge is €24 for a full test and €16 for a retest. For a cancelled prepaid test, NCTS retains the charge and refunds the balance. Confirm the amount in the official booking flow before proceeding.

Have the booking details ready, review the replacement centre and date, and save the updated confirmation. Keep a record of any charge or refund shown. Wait.ie does not cancel, rearrange or pay for your NCT; its alert fee is separate.
